Race Course Survival Food
Race Course Survival Food is a creation of the controllers and consists of two basic types of ration: A food wafer, and a juice drink. Each food wafer is approximately 4"x4"x3/4" and provides the recipient with around 1200 calories each. Three is enough to supply 3600 calories, which is what most active adults will burn in a day. It also provides nearly all of the nutrients that an individual needs each day. So they're very healthy for you. The small cans of juice (about 8oz in size) each supply about 200 calories, as well as any nutrients that the wafers don't, providing an individual with everything they need in order to perform their best on the trail.
The two food items also have another unique characteristic that both make them delicious to eat, and helps avoid food exhaustion, is that they taste like whatever you're thinking of, or hungry for. So if you're craving a delicious hamburger, the wafer will taste like you're eating a hamburger. There are some things it can't replicate, like the taste and texture of icecream, but in general it can replicate most flavors simply by thinking about it. The means by which this is achieved is unknown, but is likely connected to the implants that each racer carries with them, as non-racers report that the wafers taste like bitter sourdough bread, and the drink like grapefruit rinds.
