Crystal Quell Lamp

A Crystal Quell Lamp is a piece of controller illumination technology that is self powering, and provides light in dark places much akin to an oil lamp. However, instead of being fueled by oil, it's instead powered by the sun. This is made possible by a specially manufactured "Quell" crystal that rests at the center of the lamp. During the daylight hours it absorbs heat and light, turning jet black as it does to maximize its collecting ability, and then releases that energy as heat and light later on as needed. Most often these lamps are put into the direct sun during the day to recharge so that they are ready to be used at night for lighting and illumination. The Quel crystals can be charged either directly, by sitting in sunlight, or they can be charged simply by placing them in a fire where they can absorb ample heat, and convert that into stored energy for later use.
