Yurg is a biomechanoid creature with the intellect and intelligence of a human being, but the appearance of a Siberian Tiger. He was originally created by the controllers with the mission to destroy Birash at all costs, and then anyone else that his masters so chose to send him after. However, an unfortunate series of events leaves Yurg owing Birash initially just one, but later on many, many life debts that he desperately tries to repay, but is unable to. Being that he is very honor bound, this forces a truce between the two sides until they are repaid. This is because his attitude of personal honor forces him to keep his word, and repay whatever debts that he owns, no matter to whom it is, by whatever means necessary to satisfy that honor, even if that means protecting his prey for a time. Yurg was originally sent out not long after Birash entered the race and came close to killing him, but failed to do so when both of them were captured by the bandits of Orbus's band. Later on, when he's freed by Birash, at the time that he too is rescued, Yurg swears a life debt to Birash, thus temporarily setting aside his mission to kill Birash in order to satisfy his honor. However, in the course of his travels with Birash and Simon's team, he eventually grows to like them, and even becomes best friends with the one he was once sworn to kill.

He eventually becomes a regular, full time member of Simon's team, and even one who will die to protect them if need be. On several occasions he demonstrates this with unswerving bravery and tenacity, even to the point of suffering severe, debilitating injuries in doing so, almost to the point of dying. Later on in the course, Yurg eventually becomes an advisor to Simon's team, both in good times, and in the many bad times that they encounter, providing them with some very valuable insights into the world they're traveling through, and much more. He also become a primary food supplier, a guide, a tracker, and many more jobs. He even risks death at the hands of his masters to protect his new friends. In doing this, he indirectly protects the lives of hundreds of other racers, as his failure as a killing machine and ultimate weapon, as well as his rebellion against his creators, prompts the controllers to withhold the release of other biomechanoid tigers like himself onto the course to undertake nearly identical missions as he was sent to do.
