Titan Class

The Titan Class is made up of 16 ships that were formerly part of the Gayik'Von Yav'lik class of destroyers. They became known as the Titan class after the Gayik'Von officially turned over full ownership of them to Earth upon their retirement from mainline Gayik'Von military use. Also, one of the big differences operationally for the Titan class over the Yav'lik is that the Titans were heavily automated to greatly reduce crew requirements (but not until AFTER all the Gayik'Von left, as they wouldn't let Earthfleet do that while they were aboard the ship, lol), bringing the minimum required crew from 250 down to 35, and normal staffing from 450 to 65. The maximum crew compliment of 900, however, was maintained, even though it was never used to its full capacity. Even then it was difficult, in the early days, to keep the ships fully crewed. Eventually, though, through induction, and other forms of recruiting, plus increased birth rates, that problem was mostly solved. However, continued fleet growth would test that constantly through the decades to come.
