A Flier is the local name for all bushcraft like aircraft used within the Hundred Isles, and the pilots who fly them. These aircraft range in design from basic piston prop, ultralight aircraft to large, turbojet powered aircraft capable of moving very large cargoes. The primary use of these aircraft, though, is for expedited delivery of packages for wealthy clients as the cost of hiring a flier, despite their popularity, is quite significant, and generally beyond the means of most islanders. This is especially surprising given that most freight and passenger hauling between islands is handled by boats and motor launches.

However, those can take anywhere from several hours, to several days to make a delivery, whereas a flier can typically deliver a package in under an hour for most locations. Thus, they are highly prized when the delivery of either a package, or person, in the shorted amount of time is preferred, or required. Every flier, save only for the largest freight aircraft, are fitted with pontoons for water landings, which they have to do quite regularly, with some even being fitted with a special type of pontoon that has extendable landing gear which allows the plane to land on normal paved runways. Fliers are also radio dispatched, meaning that they don't need to land save only to refuel, and pick up their next cargo, or drop one off, as they can check in with their dispatch while in the air, and know where they need to be routed next.
