Recording Crystal

A Recording Crystal, sometimes also known as an Image Crystal is an advanced material technology unique to Offworld, which is used by The Syndicate for recording and replaying scenes, much in the same way as a video camera does, but in 360x360 degrees for up to an hour. Image playback is done via a 3D holographic image generated and projected by the crystal. Playback of these images can be started, stopped, fast forwarded, rewound and more as will. Playback can also be done repeatedly until the energy in the crystal is exhausted. Recording Crystals also, while useful, can only be used once to record a scene or event, but can't be used to record new content once the original recording is complete. So any recording that is made by a crystal is permanent until the energy within it is exhausted, after which the recording is lost and the crystal becomes permanently unusable. But, while this is a flaw in the design of the crystal, it's also a useful advantage in regards to security as exhausted or shattered crystals can't have their video contents recovered. So by simply exhausting the crystal, theft or misuse of the video data contained within it can be prevented.
