Edmond Clayton is a merchant sea captain working in early 20th century America who is recruited by the Brayburn Society for his excellent leadership and command skills, and made the captain of the starship Destiny, of which he ultimately excels at. He later marries Henrietta Taylor, and becomes the ancestor of Mike Clayton.
