Eclet

The Eclet was a Gayik'Von battleship class that served with distinction from approximately 1731, until 1906 Earth time, when it was phased out. Surplus ships were then either decommissioned and scrapped, or in rare cases refitted and sold to friendly republics within Gayik'Von space. Earthfleet was gifted two of these ships, which they examined in detail, and then used as the foundation for the construction of their Romano class dreadnoughts. And, while the technology aboard them was older, and obsolete by Gayik'Von standards, it proved to be of great benefit to Earthfleet at an important time in their technological developmental history. This is because, prior to receiving the ships, most Earthfleet technology was based around reverse engineered civilian technology, with exception of the Yav'lik class that was gifted to them in their early days. So, adding the information gained from this useful, albeit antiquated piece of military technology, to their proverbial quiver proved to be extremely beneficial to the fleet.
