The Hundred Islands, or sometimes just the "Hundred Isles", is an oceanic archipelago island chain of 104 small islands located in the middle of the primary equatorial planetary ocean of the planet Denurn. It is home to a nation of Polynesian Islanders who were kidnapped almost 4 centuries earlier from the planet Earth, and placed in their island change as specimens, and study subjects for the Ichigwa sometime in the mid to late 1600's. It is ruled by an elected monarchy (originally ruled by a hereditary monarchy until the early 1900's Earth time), and exists as a semi-modern, partially industrialized islander culture with a blend of late 80's level technology, and traditional Polynesian "grass hut" level primitive technology. Part of the reason behind this odd blending of technology, and primitive living, is due to various technological injections made by the Ichigwa over the last four centuries, which resulted in what the islanders enjoy today.

Part of the lack of really high end technology is also partially due to the Ichigwa's efforts to allow them to advance technologically, but not TOO much. IE, they're kept at a manageable level, and only advanced in small amounts when it is best and practical for the Ichigwa to allow it. The people of the Hundred Isles are also one of the Ichigwa's longest running species observation projects, lasting considerably longer than even their observations of the Crassians, due to the people of the islands continuing to be such a wealth of new research opportunities despite nearly every avenue of study and interest having already been explored at length for some time already. There was also the fact that they didn't have anywhere good to dump the humans that wouldn't point the finger back at the Ichigwa, and that was the last thing they wanted to have happen.
