The "Northern Mountains" is a series of intersecting mountain ranges (with a wide variety of names) to the farm north of the Yigzan nation on the main continent that is the home of the Midazin, and has been since their expusion and exile from the Yigzan kingdom nearly 1200-1300 years prior. It is a cold, lonely, desolate place where living is hard, but doable. The economy of the area relies primarily on fishing, hunting, mining, wool and textile trade, shepherding and a number of mountain friendly crops that love the harsh climate of the mountains, but don't do well in the prairie, whereas plants and vegetables of the prairie don't do well in the mountains, ensuring that one does not encroach on the others territory. The Northern Mountains stretch the entire length of the continent from the western shoreline to just slightly past the border between the Yigzan and Gorg nations and about one fifth of the way down the height of the continent from the northern shore to the prairie lands of the Yigzan.
