Rippling The Shields

The phrase Rippling The Shields is the name of a military tactic, employed exclusively by Earthfleet, where a starship, primarily a shipkiller, focuses all their firepower against one very narrow, concentrated area of the enemy's shields, with the intention of overwhelming and collapsing that grid, or even perhaps the entire shield, making the enemy vessel considerably more vulnerable. The principle behind this, for which the name implies, is to put so much firepower into just one tiny spot on the enemy's shield that the shield grid in that area becomes unstable, resulting in an oscillate, and a "ripple", which destabilizes, and rapidly weakens the shield in that area, accelerating its eventual collapse and failure. This particular tactic is a favorite among Earthfleet crews due to its incredible effectiveness in disabling an enemy's shields, or breaching them, in various key locations, thus making them easier to kill, and with far less effort than it might otherwise require.
