Rippling The Shields

The phrase Rippling The Shields is the name for a military tactic, employed exclusively by Earthfleet, where a starship, primarily a shipkiller, focuses all their firepower against one very narrow, concentrated area of the enemy's shields, with the intention of overwhelming and collapsing them, making the enemy vessel considerably more vulnerable. The idea behind this, for which the name implies, is to put so much firepower into just one tiny spot on the shield that the shield grid becomes unstable, causing them to oscillate and "ripple", which further weakens the shield in that location, and accelerates its eventual collapse and failure. The tactic is a favorite among Earthfleet crews due to its incredible effectiveness in disabling an enemy's shields, or at least breaching them in key locations, thus making them easier to kill, and with far less effort than it might otherwise require.
