Universal Translator

A Universal Translator is an electronic device, either embedded (EUTD) within the skull or body, or portable (PUTD) and thus removable for easy repair. The latter is often used only when implantation of an EUTD is not possible, such as in the case of the G'Fondo'Nah. All other sentient races instead employ an EUTD for language translation between individuals and third parties. Some races, like humans, and especially those in Earthfleet, integrate them into a larger suite of wet wired devices that are implanted into their heads, and bodies, while others, like the Trepedor instead install stand alone, single purpose EUTD's and avoid integrating them into any other systems with the idea that, should one fail, the other implants will continue operating uninterrupted.
