Petrov is a sentient, service class humanoid android assigned as a domestic assistant to several of the Earthfleet flag officers stationed aboard Command One. His primary assignment is to assist Grand Admiral Mike Clayton with his personal needs, such as meals, laundry, dressing for work or formal occasions, housekeeping in his quarters, and other similar domestic responsibilities. And, while his primary duty is to Mike, he also assists other androids, like himself, whenever they are in need of assistance in undertaking their own domestic responsibilities for the other flag officers stationed on Command One.

Later in life, at the end of his service period, when he is retired from fleet service, he is turned over to Mike Clayton, where he is retrained, and becomes Mike's pilot for the Generation 3 Sergenious. He continues the rest of his many years of operation in civilian service.
