Appalachia

The Appalachia is a Samurai class Shipkiller used by Earthfleet in the defense of Sol Space. It's captain is the ever venerable Commander "Toby" Tobias, and it's ships AI is Trent. The Appalachia takes on a lot of different jobs in the fleet, from ferrying diplomats to taking Society Intelligence operatives on deep space covert missions. There's never a dull moment working aboard this ship. Also, while she doesn't have a named pilot in the first two books, she does eventually take aboard Dutch, an inductee from Earth who is brought in to fill gaps in the fleet during their rebuilding years after The Battle of the Oort Perimeter some years earlier.
