Battleship Classes

Within the expanse of the Earthfleet universe, especially among The Nine Ancient Races, there are essentially six divisions of combat ships that make up the foundation of nearly every fleet within the galaxy. They are as follows:

• Corvette
• Frigate
• Destroyer
• Cruiser
• Battleship
• Dreadnought
• Super Dreds

The above list is also delineated by smallest to largest as far as ship sizes, and overall firepower, are concerned. However, within these delineations there are numerous other subgroups, and class subtypes, used to denote divergent, or non-conformant designs that do not fit into this neat listing of ship types due to their special uses, or designs. These include ships such as carriers, gun cruisers, and more. In some cases, however, such delineations are ill capable of properly categorizing certain combat ships and types, such as the Tragarian Mockmaw class battleships, which have battleship level firepower, but are more akin in class weight and defenses to that of a frigate. In cases such as this, a best approximation is used, centered more around the ship's overall firepower rather than it's total capabilities, including defenses.
