A Biomechanoid is a living machine created through genetic modification, manipulation and hardware augmentation. They are a blend of the mechanical and the biological and tend to possess above average to superior intellect and intelligence above and beyond those of their natural brethren or other similar creatures. Examples of Biomechanoids on the planet of Offworld include Yurg the tiger, The Dragons of Offworld, The Wolves of Ratinar, Captain Ebenezer and several others.

General Info

  • Biomechanoids are NOT cyborgs. They are genetically modified organisms that seamlessly blend both the mechanical and biological into a greatly enhanced lifeform that is fully capable of reproducing just like any other biological life form. The disadvantage to their offspring is that they are not born with the same mechanical enhancements that their parents enjoy, and thus must undergo modification shortly after birth, at which time they are given all of the same components and implanted modifications of their parents.
  • Biomechanoids have above average to genius level intelligence, and are fully capable of speech and reasoning on their own. Even animal biomechanoids possess intelligence that is almost always above the human average.
  • The degree of augmentation a biomechanoid enjoys depends upon 1) the original mission they were created to perform, and 2) their size, age and/or species. For example, the Dragons of Offworld enjoy access to a whole shopping list of upgrades and enhancements, whereas others, such as Ebenezer and Yurg, are only outfitted with the basic set of implants that are standard for all racers on Offworld. Others, such as the Wolves of Ratinar, enjoy additional enhancements above and beyond that of the standard base set, such as access to and the use of the Gateway Transporter system, and yet lack the ability to change their mass or cloak themselves in the same way the dragons do.
  • Some biomechanoids are created from a single species, and designed to do a specific job as required by the controllers, such as Yurg and the Wolves of Ratinar. Others, such as the Dragons, are a composite blending of several species together into a single and distinct new creation.
  • Some biomechanoids have the ability to live without consuming food or water, while others are required to eat, like any other creature, in order to sustain themselves and survive. Again, this falls under the same reasons that not every biomechanoid is outfitted with the same technology.
