Jathal is the Weyr Master of Reathrin Weyr. He's a lifelong friend of Zek and a lover of the sea. Where Zek likes mountains and the wilds of the east, Jathal is at home on the sea, and is just about one step short of being a water dragon, given how much he enjoys it. He is also a very flamboyant and charismatic leader, and is considered by many to have far too much energy for his age. Jathal serves as the Weyr Master of Reathrin until his mid 1200's, at which point he retires, and hands over the job to Rathon.
