Rathon

Rathon is the son of Lomoth, and the chief instructor of flight for Reathrin Weyr. His primary responsibilities include training all of the young dragons how to fly, and also oversees ongoing training for the older dragons to help ensure their skills are always at their best. He even volunteers from time to time to instruct new transfers to the weyr on the unique flying conditions and ways that one has to fly when operating in the area due to the tempestuous and unpredictable nature of the winds that often flow through the Great Sea.

It is important to note also that Rathon, at the age of 911 years around the time of "Troubled Waters", is at the time in their lives where most dragons retire from active training, and begin to transition into elder rolls, and those jobs that don't require strenuous exercise such as what is required to be a flight trainer However, Rathon is still healthy and strong, despite his age, and continues his work as chief flight instructor up until the retirement of Weyr Master Jathal, upon which time he takes over as the new weyr master of Reathrin Weyr in place of Jathal, and serves the weyr until his late 1100's.
