Maxwell "Max" Conner is the first officer of the Brayburn Society starship Destiny. He is a tall, stocky, well built man with sun drenched skin, and a mile wide smile. He carries an air of authority with him, but he's not arrogant. He cares greatly for his crews, and leads by example.

History

Not much is known about Max's history so far. But what is known is that he comes from a military upbringing, and has been a career military officer his entire adult life. He was originally considered for the position of captain of the Starship Destiny, but was eventually passed over in favor of Edmond Clayton, as his skills, while notable, were initially incompatible with command of a starship as he had no naval, or aeronautical experience, whereas Edmond had, at the very least, sea captaining experience, and quite a bit of it at that, and regularly in less than ideal conditions. Even so, despite being primarily a ground commander, familiar with fighting on terra firma, he did eventually grow into his roll as first officer under Edmond.

In the end, the only thing that held him back was his lack of experience, and not his lack of skill. As a commander, he's top notch. He merely lacked the experience and leadership required to command the Destiny, and other similar starships, which Edmond eventually provided to him. Once he acquired these skills, he became a starship captain, and one of great renowned at that. He eventually went on to captain one of the Titan class destroyers, that was gifted to them by the Gayik'Von, and then a fleet admiral later on. He eventually retired as a three star admiral, never having achieved the rank of Grand Admiral. Even so, his career was very notable in and of itself, and set a precedent for many other captains who came behind him.
