Sol Republic

The Sol Republic is an organization that is a joint venture between the Brayburn Society, Earthfleet and the United Earth Republic. It is designed to take advantage of the advanced technology of the Brayburn Society, the military prowess and experience of Earthfleet, and the numerical superiority of Earth, to create an organization that acts as a controlling, moderating influence over the people of Earth, to help bring them up to date technologically (while still keeping Earthfleet and the Society as the technological superior, for obvious reasons), and to provide both a filter, and a moderating influence, on the expansion of Mankind into space. Part of this is to keep Mankind, in general, but most especially Earth, out of trouble, and block those who would otherwise create havoc and mayhem (like the Crassians once did), and get Mankind in trouble with the larger races of the galaxy. So it's not an actual governmental body, and is instead a treaty alliance, meant to ensure that mankind takes the right steps forward into space, and the wider galaxy, and doesn't screw up this golden opportunity for Earth to become a greater player in the galaxy as a whole.
