The Gayik'Von Yav'lik class was a series of frontline destroyers designed for inner-republic patrol, defense, and peacekeeping that was state of the art, and cutting edge for its time, from the day that the very first Yav'lik class was laid down, until 20 years before the class was eventually replaced by newer, more advanced, next generation destroyers. The Yav'lik class is a very sturdy, reliable, durable, and dependable starship. It is also very lightly crewed by Gayik'Von standards, with a minimum crew requirement of 250 personnel, a standard "fully staffed" compliment of 450, and a max compliment (including marines and others) of over 900, the latter only being allowed for special missions and limited deployments due to the incredible burden this puts on the ship's systems and life support.

After a successful service lifetime of nearly three hundred years, after being replaced by several newer generation destroyer classes, the Gayik'Von began phasing out these destroyers from regular service, and sent them directly to the scrap yard as there were now better ships that could be used for training, which is where most obsolete ships are sent, thus they weren't needed for that task, nor were they put in mothballs as they were too old, and technologically out of date by the time of their decommissioning, to justify doing that. So scrapping was the only logical thing to do with them. However, as they were scrapping out the entire class, starting from the oldest ships to the newest, with the newest remaining in active service an additional 20 years past their official decommissioning (may as well not waste a perfectly good starship that was fresh off the assembly line not long before this), a brilliant, and observant officer noticed something troubling.

His fleet commanders were so anxious to get rid of the older, obsolete Yav'lik class that they overlooked the fact that, due to the incredible dependability of these destroyers, the Gayik'Von had amassed a considerable backstock of spare parts for these ships. So much, in fact, that to get rid of it would be seen as unnecessarily wasteful. So, after some discussion among the admiralty, it was decided that 16 of these ships, along with a substantial pile of spare parts, would be gifted to Earth to help them in their own defense, which would then lift a much larger burden of protection off the Gayik'Von, and also act as an olive branch to the rapidly growing, and advancing Society as a means to strengthen their friendship, and help keep Earth from ever becoming a threat to the Gayik'Von by ensuring they remained friends.

The only downside to this was that the Yav'lik class was far too advanced of a starship for Earth to step into without significant training on its use and operation. So, as an added benefit, which the Yandians happily assisted them with, as part of the gift of 16 Yav'lik class destroyers, and a mountain of spare parts, Earth's fledgling Society Space Corps were given four years of intense military and technical training on their operation, proper military protocol and doctrine, and much more, ultimately transforming the Society Space Corps into Earthfleet. Once the training was done, the Gayik'Von left behind a small advisory contingent of crewmen to man some of the ships (Earthfleet was only able to man 4 ships at the start, but later was able to fill out the crews of the other 12 after doing significant mounts of inducting from the planetside population) and watch over them until Earth could take complete ownership of their new fleet. After this the Gayik'Von returned home to their families, and their prior duties, only stepping in with help as needed.

Once in Earth's hands, the Yav'lik class was renamed the "Titan Class", and made a frontline battleship in the defense of Earth. The Yav'lik class starships then served an additional 60 years before finally being superseded by newer, better starships, after having reached the end of their usable service lives, and the near total depletion of the large stash of spare parts given to them by the Gayik'Von.
