Benoi
The Benoi are a xenopoid species that are made of living energy, and live in the space between universes, inside the dimensional divide; a realm of pure energy. They are generally very benevolent and pacifistic, while at the same time curious and inquisitive, always seeking to know more and learn as much as they can. The Benoi are also known among the other races of the Milky Way by numerous other names, including the Yah'Rah'Shai, which is the Gayik'Von name for them. Like so many of the alien species within our dimension, and especially our galaxy, the Benoi are a creation of The Weavers. The Benoi are known to live within certain areas of the Dimensional Divide, and call it their home.
They also employ an odd form of marriage, with the two lifeforms joining together to become one unique lifeform with two distinct personalities within, one being dominant, the other subservient. Usually the stronger of the two within the union becomes the dominant personality once bonded. Married Benoi often refer to themselves in the plural because, with them, marriage involves the two parties literally fusing together and becoming one. Therefore, when referring to themselves in the plural, they are signifying that both parties in the marriage agree to the given topic. If they reply in the singular, such as I, me, her, etc, then it means that only one of the two agree. The two parts of the unified whole can also separate into their individual forms, when such is needed, but generally remain, and operate together, as a single organism. Also, in most marriages, the dominant personality, and primary avatar, of the couple is the husband, although some relationships have the wife as the dominant party. However, those are rare.
Fun Facts
- Benoi can be summoned to a person's location using a device called a Beckoning stone. It's a small, blue crystal, about palm sized, that when activated, can summon either the nearest Benoi, or one that you want to talk with specifically. To call a specific Benoi, all you have to do is either call their name, or think of them, and they will come.
- As best is known and understood by others, and even the Benoi themselves, they are immortal because, as long as the multiverse exists, so will they. It also helps that they are made of living energy, and thus are not subject to time, entropy, or mortality.
- The Benoi have the ability to reproduce. However, the rate at which they have children is only one per several thousand years. The irony of this is that, from conception to birth, the time elapsed is just a few days, and occurs entirely outside the body with conception being achieved simply by the joining of fingertips in a willful, consensual "coming together" to form a sprite that quickly grows and becomes a baby Benoi that is officially born when the sprite transforms from a glowing sphere into a young child not unlike a human newborn.
