Jalc

Jalc is one of the colonial worlds of the Gayik'Von republic which was terraformed and colonized during the 1700's Earth time, and still a young colony in the mid to late 1800's when Edmond Clayton and the crew of the starship Destiny are brought there after their rescue from the clutches of Za'gard. In the late 1900's it is eventually abandoned as a failed colony, and then gifted to Earth in the last 2000's by the Gayik'Von in a gesture of friendship and thanks after the events of The Specimen, and because Jalc is both inhabitable by humans, and also close to Earth, thus a good candidate for colonization and expansion of humanity. Plus, it was a failed attempt at colonization, being in a somewhat undesirable location for Gayik'Von, but perfect for Humans being close to Sol space (about 5 days travel at Warp 6). So it is roughly "right next door" to Sol Space in galactic terms. Jalc, during its Gayik'Von colonial days, is the home of Pelk, Taria, K'Vin and Viceroy, as well as Six Paws and many others. Later on, when Jalc is abandoned as a Gayik'Von colony, their descendants spread out across the republic, but still remain close friends with Sol.
