Za'gard is a Lareshian Juinah supreme lord, and one of the eight great lords who lived and ruled the Juinah during the time in which the Brayburn Society first stepped into space. His flagship is the Tenk. Za'gard is infamous for his regular trade in contraband, slaves, and a variety of illegal substances. He also has an ongoing rivalry with the other local Juinah lords, so much so that he even goes to war with them on occasion. The exact area of Za'gard's influence isn't specified in the stories, but it's believed to include a small piece of the Alpha quadrant, somewhere deep inside the Gayik'Von republic, as its evident that he was a constant thorn in their side. However, there's no mention of the same being true of any other of The Nine Ancient Races, indicating that his area of influence was small in comparison to these super nations.

Za'gard and Earth

Around the timeline of First Dawn, Za'gard came into Sol Sector on his way to Earth to both scout Earth, and to eventually harvest the planet for countless numbers of lucrative slaves. However, upon arriving he discovered that Earth, via the Brayburn Society, was beginning to step out into space. Due to this revelation, and constant Gayik'Von patrols in the area, as well as other more pressing issues, he was forced to abandon this effort. He returned again at a later time, but was only able to make off with the crew of the Destiny, after disabling their ship, after which he took them to Asarath with the intention of testing them on the slave market to see if they would draw a good price.

However, events turned against him, leading to the theft of his ship, the escape of his newest potential slaves, and a series of other misfortunes that both directly, and indirectly, led to his downfall, as well as the seven other regional lords of the Juinah. In a fit of rage, after his humiliation, and near defeat at Asarath, Za'gard tracked down the recently upgraded Destiny and tried to destroy it, but was thwarted by the Kal'eck who, with the assistance of the Destiny, was able to repel Za'gard's attack, and so severely cripple his ship that he was forced to retreat. He was later tracked down by the Gayik'Von and destroyed.
