Albert Lent is the chief engineer of the Brayburn Society Starship Destiny. He's an inductee of British origin and someone who's very, very good at his job. He later becomes the chief engineer of Edmond's flagship, a captain of his own ship, and eventually an admiral in the newly formed Earthfleet. He was also hugely instrumental in the rebuild of the Destiny, after she was disabled, and had to be refitted with completely new parts, with the assistance of Pelk, Taria, and many others.
