Jump Drive
A Jump Drive is a point to point, inner-dimensional FTL drive system created and used by the Razkor to travel long distances instantaneously. The drive system, while fast, is also unstable and dangerous to use, resulting in any number of potentially catastrophic outcomes should the drive ever suffer a critical failure. The sheer danger in using it, without a firm and solid understanding of the drive system and its quantum mechanics is one of the reasons that no other race in galactic history, save perhaps Earthfleet, has even considered recreating or using its advanced capabilities. Especially after a jump drive accident lead to the downfall and destruction of the Razkor in ancient times.
After capturing a large quantity of Razkor technology, Earthfleet and the Society are able to not only reverse engineer and replicate the technology, they are able to improve on it after discovering some of the failings and faults of the original drive system, and realizing that the Razkor had the answer to a fully functional, entirely stable, highly reliable and safe Jump Drive technology, but didn't realize it. By combining technology from the Razkor Jump Drive, Dimensional Portal Drive (see The Haven and Empire Rising for examples of this), as well as several other Razkor technologies, as well as the additional of a specialized jump addressing system, they are able to create a jump drive that is superior to anything the Razkor made.
The only reason this became possible was due to Dr. Rasmussen, Dr. Olm, and the chief of the Society Intelligence Corps, the latter of which knew that the Nyuishians had infiltrated the Society, and the fleet, via the Red Paladin corps, taking extraordinary steps to sequester and safeguard a large quantity of captured Razkor technology and saved knowledge, some of which was quietly and secretly captured by Lars Nordic and Vladimir Umnov during their time on The Haven, and some of which was secretly given to them by Apiasis and Bofianes as a consolation for the harm they caused to the galaxy. The gift was given as their way to make penance for what happened thanks to the follishness of Bofianes.
This is done without the knowledge of the Nyuishians, knowing that, were they to find out that any of the Razkor tech, or knowledge, had gotten into anyone's hands, other than themselves, it could spell possible catastrophe. Thanks to this, and the tech that was salvaged and safeguarded by the two Society scientists, Earthfleet was able to acquire jump drive technology. And, while it's not exceptionally stable in the beginning, it quickly becomes a reliable, polished technology over time.
