The Angalorians are a mammalian race of the lupoid (ie, wolf) subtype and are also one of The Nine Ancient Races that rule the galaxy. The Angalorians are a warrior race, much like the Tragarians, but approach their warrior lifestyle and ways differently, focusing on honor and duty rather than simply looking for a fight for the sake of fighting. The Angalorians are also one of the four races, including the Varnok, Tragarians and the Pront who originally stood against Earth when they came to the forefront of galactic politics under the watch of the UGW.
But, after Phyland Renwald of Earth proved to Angalorian Ambassador Gray Fang that they could be trusted without question, he in turn convinces his government not to fear the humans, and instead embrace them as friends and a kindred spirit, which many of the Angalorians eventually do. The Angalorian empire is located between Yandian and Pront space in the northwestern portion of the galaxy. The Angalorians are semi-religious, and mono-theistic, with belief in both a heaven, where the good, the honorable, and the bravest of warriors go, and Ahvanyar, where the dirty, greedy, disgraceful, dishonored, and other criminal individuals are sent upon death. And, while religion doesn't rule their society, it does color it in some interesting ways.
Known Angalorians
- Gray Fang (Diplomat)
- Nisp (Diplomat)
- Shadow (Mercenary, Delta Star)
Fun Facts
- The Angelorians have a saying that "Something is the better part of a double litter", which means that it's almost a foregone conclusion or a near absolute certainty. This comes from the fact that Angalorians have an average of around five pups per litter. So a double litter would subsequently be ten pups. Thus the term, "the better part", would refer to a certainty of 80-90% of something when used colloquially.
- Angalorians have a high birth rate of about 5 pups per litter, and bear children every several years. However, they do not have a high survival rate. Angalorians live to be about 60 years old on average, with 80 being the oldest one would typically live. So any pup that lives to the age of 15 has a high likelihood of continuing on into old age. Some of this is due to environmental and genetic factors of their race, and some of it due to the warrior like culture of their race which values strength above all other traits. As such, the weak do not typically survive long in their society. Hence their high mortality rate.
