Manwan Despon is the King of Pirates, and rules over a vast pirate kingdom with Bremen Te Barro as its capital, which is protected by the fort of Kastinega. His flagship is The Black Cross and features both a flag and a figurehead on his ship in the shape of a Celtic Cross. He is ruthless, brutal, brilliant, and maintains a fleet larger than any other single navy in the Great Sea. And, while his kingdom takes up a portion of the NorthWestern corner of the White Mountains, it is land that is officially property of Maul Ratinar and is part of his mountains, and is often disputed over. However, it is rarely contested much beyond a war of words, as Despon answers directly to the controllers, and thus is afforded special protections that others would not have. His biggest rivals in the area of the Great Sea is the bandit kingdom of The Demesne of Kaspar, and the royal kingdom of Grootwand.
